April 3, 1952 –
January 7, 2007
Eamonn Gordon
touched the
lives of so many
in Harford
County in his 30
plus years as an
attorney and
friend. He was
known for the
pro bono work he
would accept in
order to help
people that
needed proper
representation
but could not
afford it. In
that light, and
to honor his
legacy, we
founded the
Eamonn J. Gordon
Scholarship Fund
shortly after
Eamonn’s
untimely death..
The Fund offers
scholarships to
students
enrolled in the
Harford
Community
College
Paralegal
program in which
Eamonn was an
instructor. The
idea is to not
only give these
scholarships
based on merit,
but need as
well. Eamonn
worked hard to
get through law
school and had
nothing handed
to him. We want
to help students
with similar
situations.
Board members
will coordinate
the selection
process from the
applications
received by HCC.
To date, the
Fund has raised
over $60,000 and
has transferred
$50,000 to
Harford
Community
College
Foundation,
which invests
the money for
the Fund, and
has awarded one
scholarship. In
early 2010, the
Scholarship Fund
balance stood at
$55,000.
The Eamonn J.
Gordon
Scholarship Fund
sponsors two
fund-raising
events each
year. A St.
Patrick’s Day
event is held on
or about St.
Patrick’s Day,
March 17. The
Fourth Annual
Golf Outing will
be held in early
October. Check
back soon for
details about
both events.
The Trustees and
officers of the
Eamonn J. Gordon
Scholarship Fund
for 2010 are
Joseph F. Snee,
Jr., President,
Richard G.
Herbig, Vice
President; Frank
Hajek,
Treasurer;
Michael E. Leaf,
Secretary; Ken
Baroch; Dennis
Cox; Brent
Kluge; Sharon
Pupa; and Dave
Stover.
We sincerely
appreciate all
of those who
have volunteered
their time and
donated money to
make the fund a
lasting tribute
to Eamonn.
